RISING star Cassie Hoare stayed composed when it mattered to win gold at the recent Australian Gymnastics Championships at Hisense Arena, Melbourne.

Cassie, a member of the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) Individual Athlete Program  for trampoline, produced a stunning result to win the Junior Female Individual Trampoline Australian title. She achieved the 41.3 points benchmark which qualified her to be in the mix for selection for the world age (Under-21) championships to be held in Bulgaria in November this year.

Cassie, a Year 11 student at Pedare College, was thrilled with her result.

"I didn't think about the competition but it was about enjoying the time I was there,'' she said.

"I did really want to win but I would have been happy with a podium finish.

''I was really pleased with my result and the support I have had. I felt it was an amazing opportunity to get back there.''

Cassie also was expected to team with Claire Arthur in a synchro event but Claire missed the whole competition with injury. Cassie ended up pairing with a girl from Queensland in the synchro.

Athletes will have a chance again to qualify for the world titles at the national club competition in Bendigo in September.

Cassie is a member of the T-Jets, a high performance program through Gymnastics SA. After a couple days break it is back to full training, Monday to Saturday, and to pick up the books again at school.
