SA juniors ready to dive against the best

SOUTH Australia will be strongly represented at the 2017 Australian Elite Junior Diving Championship at the HBF Stadium, Perth, between July 6 and 9.

Kate Rosman (1m, 3m), Ross Todd (1m, 3m, platform), Lily Foster (platform), Sophie Hinks (platform), Macie Wheeler (11 and 12years, 1m, 3m, platform), Amelia Linton (11 and 12 years, 1m, 3m), Ella Nixon-Dores (1m, 3m), Chloe Marshall (1m) and Chloe Bennett (1m, 3m, platform) will fly the flag for SA.

SASI and National diving coach Michel Larouche said the team had prepared well.

''All of the team should do well,'' he said. ''They are all looking good in training and will be well prepared although divers always take in a few niggling injuries. But I am happy with the way they are going.''

The championship is the main event for junior divers this year.

Meanwhile, champion SASI divers Taneka Kovchenko and Matthew Carter are finetuning their preparations for the FINA World Championships in Budapest, from July 14 to 22.

The duo is part of the 10-member Australian team which was selected after the  national championships in Sydney.

Taneka will compete in the 10m and 10m synchro events (synchro with Melissa Wu), while Matthew will team with Kevin Chavez in the 3m synchro.

The Australian team for Budapest includes seven members of the Rio Olympic team.
