CONFIDENCE should be high among SASI'S Canoe Sprint athletes as they aim to make the cut for the various senior national teams and chase national titles in Sydney in March.
Senior team selections will be held on March 4 and 5, while the Canoe Sprint National Championship is between March 6 and 10. Both events will be at the Sydney Inernational Regatta Centre.
Athletes lining up for senior teams' selection are:
Women's kayak: Francesca Kidd, Catherine McArthur (K1,K2, K4)
Women's canoe: Josie Bulmer, Isabella Rositano (C1, C2).
Men's canoe: Charlie Ellis (C1)
Men's kayak: Matt Goble, Reece Bacchus, Callum Dunn, Sean Lohse, Tim Symonds, Owen McLeod, Chris Kither, Jayden Ellis, Jared Lee
Canoe Sprint acting Head Coach Dusan Ruzicic said he was pleased with the athletes' efforts and was hoping for a top showing at the selection trials and national titles.
''It will be quite busy with the national championships held right after the national team selection regatta,'' Ruzicic said.
''All of our under-23 athletes, including two juniors, Jesse (Kneebone) Ellis and Daniel Kucharski, will have a chance to make those respective teams.
''Notable results (Grand Prix 2) were Josie (C1 200m), Matt (K2 500m, K1 200m), Cat (K2, K4 500m) and Jayden (K1 500m, K2 500m).
''Once again this has just opened the door for the next step which is being nominated to their respective age group national teams.''
