SASI to saddle up for Little Heroes
24 Jul 2018
THE young guns of SASI's cycling program will look to hit the ground at top speed when they compete in both track and road events in the 2018/19 season.
Apart from their teammates and coaches urging them on they also will have a wingman following every part of their events with the support of the Little Heroes Foundation.
The SASI team, which for years has proved the stepping stone for its athletes to rise through the national and international ranks, will ride for the Little Heroes Foundation which has been in existence since 1996.
The foundation raises money to support South Australian families with a seriously ill child through their lives after diagnosis.
Little Heroes chairman Chris McDermott said his organisation was thrilled to link with SASI.
"I have an enormous respect for what cycling and SASI stands for," McDermott said.
"For us it is a great branding and a good relationship to have.
"I know that our kids and families can benefit from our partnership and to be able to meet and mix with champion cyclists.
"We have been involved with champion cyclists like Anna Meares and Rohan Dennis who have been pro active in their suppoort of Little Heroes."
SASI Head Cycling Coach Brett Aitken said that the relationship between the Little Heroes Foundation and SASI provides excellent opportunities for scholars of the bike.
"SASI's responsibillty is not only to develop outstanding cyclists but develop outstanding people. We will be supporting the Little Heroes Foundation and helping where we can, providing an opportunity for our cycling team to contribute to a great South Australian charity".
The SASI team kicks off its NRS campaign in Queensland in the Battle Recharge Event from July 27-29. Following this event the team will compete in the South Eats in the Tour of Great South Coast from August 15-19.
