RISING young hockey star Miki Spano will continue her journey on the international stage when she competes overseas in the Hockeyroos team in the FIH Pro League program.

Spano, 22, a SASI scholar and member of the national hockey development squad, has won selection in the team's hectic overseas Pacific leg. That tour began on Anzac Day with a 5-1 victory against New Zealand in Auckland. The Hockeyroos will then take on Argentina in Buenos Aires on May 4 and the US in Pennsylvania on May 10.

Spano made her debut in the Pro League fixture in Sydney earlier in the year and held her place in her first overseas involvement with the senior team.

She will be joined by SASI Graduate and Australian star Jane Claxton in the 21-member team.

SASI Hockey Head Coach and national junior women's coach Tim White said Spano's selection continued her impressive start in senior ranks.

"Miki's selection provides a great opportunity. After debuting in Sydney a few weeks ago Miki has come back to the SASI environment and continued to work hard," White said.

"Miki gets the opportunity to play New Zealand, Argentina and the US in a three-leg tour. The tour is important for the Hockeyroos as they look to consolidate a top-four position in the Pro League.''

The Pro League consists of nine men's and nine women's teams which play home and away matches around the world. The competition runs from January to June 2019 with Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, United States, China, England, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands taking on each other.
