The South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) is partnering with Paralympics Australia (PA) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Future Green and Gold Program to host a Paralympic Talent Search session next month!
This testing session will take place on Saturday 7 December from 10am – 1pm at the new SASI facility in Mile End with the aim to discover athletes that could compete at the LA2028 and Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.
Paralympic rowing champion/SASI Para-Athlete of the Year Jed Altschwager will attend on the day, providing inspiration to the next generation of aspiring Paralympians.
At this event, athletes’ physical, anthropometrical, and physiological characteristics are assessed in order to identify whether they have the capacity to become Australia’s next Paralympic sporting champion.
Athletes with a physical, vision, and/or intellectual impairment over the age of 13 are encouraged to register.
Participants will have the opportunity to try multiple sports including rowing, cycling (including hand-cycling), kayak, table tennis, athletics, archery, shooting, badminton, swimming, taekwondo, triathlon, and wheelchair rugby.
The partnerships with PA and AIS Future Green and Gold will present exciting opportunities for participants to engage with para sport experts, classification specialists and SASI para-athletes and coaches.
If you haven’t tried sport before, don’t worry as no sporting experience is required to take part. Talent Search is designed to help guide you towards a sport you may be best suited to and most importantly enjoy!
The opportunity is also open to current high-performance athletes who are looking to transition into a different sport.
